Just like her mother... *wipes a single tear*
Upon realizing his little girl is no longer a little girl, and that he is getting older by association, Dennis takes up guitar. He never did get a job, and aside from getting married and producing one child, hasn't done much to contribute to the world.
So, the family decides to tolerate his new hobby.
"He'll get better someday, Fantasia," Bennet whispers to her cat. "I hope."
"He'll get better someday, Fantasia," Bennet whispers to her cat. "I hope."
I am just a sweet, fluffy cat and I have done nothing to deserve this kind of weather.
Bennet takes Fantasia to the cat jungle gym to get away from her father's noise-making, but as usual, no one there has actually brought their cat.
Tide's family decided it would be a good place for a family outing, apparently. Here, he is seen with his son, Magnus.
Bennet can't resist making a weird face at him.
"Okay, but seriously Uncle Tide, why do you wear your work clothes everywhere?"
"They're comfy," Tide shrugs.
"They're comfy," Tide shrugs.
At least Fantasia seems to be enjoying herself.
"You are literally the only cat here, aren't you?" Bennet sighs.
Back at home, Bennet begins studying... for fun. First up is cooking, for no other reason than that Bennet is curious.
Fantasia shows off her hunting skills to Stanley. For some reason, he doesn't seem impressed.
Ants!
"I'm thinking of joining the football team," Bennet tells her family excitedly during dinner one night. "There are no girls on the football team yet. I'd be like a pioneer!"
"How about you just stick with Debate and Study Club for now," Melarkey says.
"How about you just stick with Debate and Study Club for now," Melarkey says.
Bennet listens to her mother, despite her itch to try everything. But she begins researching colleges in the small amounts of spare time she has - she knows there's more to the world than Sunset Valley, and she wants to experience it.
In other news, cousin Ignacio, now a teenager, is spotted at the park.
Cadydid joins him on the swingset.
"So, uh... Grandma. How've you been?"
"So, uh... Grandma. How've you been?"
Cadydid responds by laying down and making a snow angel.
"Are you, um, okay? Do I need to call Aunt Melarkey?"
Unable to locate a taxi or police car, Ignacio ends up flagging down the ice cream truck (in the middle of winter) and has Cadydid escorted home.
Spring arrives.
And spring cleaning chores begin.
Dennis "helps".
Stanley breathes his last squirrelly breath, and is buried in the back yard under the tree he was found by.
Dennis is the most distraught, since he was the one who domesticated the little guy.
"Who will I make strange faces at now?"
Suppose the cat will have to do.
Melarkey and Dennis' date night is interrupted by the death of a random townie.
Tide, who also happens to be there, is sad.
The scene is especially upsetting for Melarkey. She clings to Dennis, rambling on worriedly about her aging mother.
"Let's just skip the movie and go home," Dennis suggests reassuringly. "You'll feel better tomorrow."
"Let's just skip the movie and go home," Dennis suggests reassuringly. "You'll feel better tomorrow."
But it's hard not to worry, especially when your frail mother spends her time chasing small rodents around the yard in the pouring rain.
Cadydid names the chipmunk Chad and sets him up in Stanley's old cage.
"You'll look after them when I'm gone, won't you?" Cadydid asks quietly.
"You'll look after them when I'm gone, won't you?" Cadydid asks quietly.
After entrusting her family to Chad the chipmunk, it's time.
Dennis is mostly upset Cadydid is dying right after he told his wife things were going to
be okay.
be okay.
"You seem oddly okay with this," Grim notes.
"I've been waiting for you my whole life," Cadydid admits softly.
"I've been waiting for you my whole life," Cadydid admits softly.
Melarkey looks up from her sobbing. "Wait, Mom, WHAT did you say?"
Somebody left-- whatever this is to burn on the stove during the whole ordeal.
A basement is added to the house, serving as a final resting place for family urns and storage for important memorabilia.
Tiberius and Cadydid are placed side-by-side.
It is still unknown, even to this day, why Cadydid chose a chipmunk to be her legacy.
